So you wanted to find out more about Stadium…
We are a Phoenix based company and we’re here to help you not suck at marketing.
I am one of those people that stays till the end of the movie; The guy that wants to see where things were filmed; Who catered for craft services; What music was in the film. I am the guy that examines the toothpaste packaging while brushing my teeth. I am the guy that compares Dollar Store knock-off products to the real thing. I am one of those guys that pauses TV to see what font is used in the small print in those Automobile commercials.
I am the guy that really loves communication design.
What I really like is work that does what is supposed to do. Communicate. Logos to establish a brand. Print that delivers. Sites that provide and glean information. Content that gets results.
I love what I do. And I have been doing for 30 years: Creative direction branding and advertising for an assortment of industries, non-profit organizations and start-ups.
I was born in a small town in Northeast Georgia. I grew up in Portland, Oregon; a graduate of University of Oregon. I came to Phoenix a decade ago. My wife and I have 3 sons.
There has always been a soft spot in my heart for computers and technology. I’ve been taking things apart ever since I can remember. In junior high, I built my first computer and they have been in my blood ever since. In high school, some friends and I went to a summer camp and I brought along my very first digital camera. Afterward, we wanted to share our pictures with the friends we made, many of whom lived in different states. I did some research and found a bunch of tutorials on Angel Fire about how to design a web page. So I taught myself html and learned how to put together websites.
After high school, I attended Southwestern College (now Arizona Christian University) and thought I was going to become a pastor. I was given the opportunity to work as I made my way through school as an IT administrator and estimator for a local excavation company. Through many years of school and figuring out what I wanted to do with my life, I realized that being a pastor wasn’t my calling. I lived and breathed computers, networks, and websites and that’s where I was most gifted.
In 2008 I was laid off from my construction job as many people were that year and was faced with a decision. Do I try and find another industry to work IT for or do I finally take the plunge and follow my dream of owning a business? I worked a few odd jobs while I was deciding, but I was given the opportunity to realize my goals of business ownership by a friend at church who offered to send a bunch of web design work overflow my way. In May of 2009, I started my own business in web development and marketing and have been doing that ever since. And I love every minute of it!
The best part about design and marketing is that it’s never the same job twice. Each company is unique and has its own identity and I love the challenge of building web applications that are unique and beautiful.
I am happily married to the love of my life, Chelsea. She is a wonderful, supportive, hilarious wife and mom. She is also a master of all things crafty and can be found on Pinterest at http://pinterest.com/kbsmomma/. I am a dad to my two boys, Luke and James.
What I’m into: Politics, Theology, Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlefield 4, Arrested Development quotes, Technology, Electronica, and Shooting, but not necessarily in that order.
I came to this juncture via the meandering path. At Oregon State University I majored in English, Spanish, French, and Accounting with a Math minor. My poor father.
I have always been a writer, always loved writing, people and art. However, when I was in college there was no new media and digital media…only dino-media.
I’m also part geek and have a great eagerness to learn and apply new technology.
I was given an opportunity to re-discover my gifts in 2012 and began a simple blog. One small step.
Then came a partnership with Michael Withem who built a site and asked me to be managing editor. Suddenly I found WordPress was a wonderful thing, HTML was no big deal, and graphics were fun fun fun!
Before long I had a long list of amazing friends willing to write at the site and found myself writing and editing all the day long. I accepted a job as editor and writer for a national site and at the same time was asked to be a talk show host.
The last 2 years have been a blast, managing sites and their social media, teaching folks about Twitter and new media, writing daily, and talking about issues and the arts on my talk shows.
Dad once told me, “Honey, find what it is you love to do and how you can get paid for doing it, and you’ll have a fulfilling life!”
It took me a while, Dad, but I’m there!
I have the opportunity to write, to be artistic, to message via social media and to work with wonderful people: life is good and I am thankful.
I was born and raised in Oregon, and live in the Portland metro area with my Persian cat, Omar.
In my spare time I read, shoot, bike, listen to music, work out and am involved in politics. Oh yea…I’m fair to middling at WWF (Words With Friends)!
